Ladner’s David Rutherford Signs Extension
Florida Everblades President/GM Craig Bush and Head Coach Greg Poss made it official.Ladner’s David Rutherford (25) has agreed to terms with the Florida Everblades and will return for the 2012-13 season.
The Everblades are the affiliate for both the Carolina Hurricanes and the Tampa Bay Lightning of the National Hockey League and the Charlotte Checkers and Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League.
David returns to Florida after finishing his season with 55 points, which include a team leading 25 goals.
He also added 12 points in 17 play-off games helping the club to it’s first Kelly Cup title.
This championship was not the first for David as he has previously won championships with Bossier-Shreveport (CHL) and the Memorial Cup while playing with Spokane in 2008 after a trade from the Vancouver Giants.
He (David) appeared in 64 ECHL games during the 2008-09 season managing 36 points (19goals/17assists) which were split between Charlotte and Phoenix.
In his two seasons with Bossier-Shreveport, he counted a total of 105 points, turning on the red-light 53 times and setting up with 52 helpers in 99 games played from 09-11.
He managed 22 points in 20 play-off games while playing with the Mudbugs Cup run in 2011. Knowing David on a personal basis, I can honestly say he loves his Family, his community and is true to his friends.
It is ironic that he will be bringing the Kelly Cup home to Ladner in August as one would think, it’s named after his late Father Kelly, who was truly a great individual until the tragic end.
He loved Tracy and David and worked close with the South Delta Minor Hockey Association in developing up and coming officials to keep the game alive.
Great family and I am very proud of David for all his accomplishments to date.
Now – let’s take it to the next level!
