Poor Display Of Sportsmanship

The Akwesasne Outlawz performance last night was a disgrace to the game great game of lacrosse showing no respect to the rules/officials in a 20-4 loss to the Tri-City Bandits in the final game of day at the 2014 Presidents Cup.
The game itself between the Bandits and the Outlawz heading in had both teams winless in the tournament after a good start by the Bandits and smart lacrosse saw a frustrated Akwesasne team turn the tables on the game itself.
president's cupThe Bandits opened up a sizeable lead after one was 6-2 and heading into the third it was 9-2 and from there they rang up 11 more hitting double figures for a final of 20-4.
Things got ugly in the second period when the Outlawz lost all the respect for the game late in the opening period as started to take penalties and the trend continued into the period.
As the Bandits scoring continued against an out-matched Akwesasne team on the floor the Outlawz took several penalties from minors to more serious ones in which the veteran officiating crew made several calls against them.

Penalties included majors for Spearing, Slashing, Cross Checking, High Sticking plus others that resulted in the Outlawz being shorthanded for several minutes which carried over to the third.

It was interesting to see what discipline they will faced from the tournament officials and as far as suspensions go the question is – how many players will be dressing for their game against Six Nations.

This all after a “fight fest” altercation against the Bandits in the blowout that could have massive implications for those not allowed to play in future games, so we will see.
In the early game Friday saw the Onondaga Redhawks took over top spot 5-1 with a 13-3 over the Nanaimo Timbermen in the 10:00am scheduled game that left them holding down top spot at the conclusion of the Round Robin play.
The other two top teams St. Albert Miners and Kahnawake both 4-1 in the round robin standings met in the 5pm game in what was a great one, with either the Mohawks or the Miners moving into a tie for first with Onondaga at 5-1.
The final game of the day had the Tri-City Bandits taking on Six Nations Rivermen at 8pm and depending on what six Nations did against Akwesasne, a loss by the Rivermen opens a door to possibly sneak into the playoffs.
Pending a possible with a win over Six Nations it would result in a three way tie for the fourth and final playoff spot which would be forced to go to a tie breaker.
Following the conclusion of these games the playoff match-ups will be decided as first place meets fourth and second play’s third.

The winners meet in the Championship game and the losers play in the Bronze game goes at  12:30pm and the Gold medal game takes place at 4:30pm.

Congratulations to the Onondaga Redhawks for winning the  2014 CLA Presidents’ Cup as the Redhawks overcame a 4-3 deficit after 40 minute to defeat the Six Nations  Rivermen 9-7.

Players of the Game were Miles  Thompson for Onondaga and Wayne VanEvery for Six Nations.

Congratulations  also go out to Lyle Thompson of the Redhawks, who was named the tournament Most  Valuable Player.

Earlier in the day, the St. Albert Miners defeated the  Kahnawake Mohawks 7-5 to claim the Bronze Medal.
