KENSINGTON PARK ARENA REJUVENATION PROJECT

Canucks Sports & Entertainment (CS&E) and RONA Inc. (TSX: RON, RON.PR.A) announced today a collaborative project with the City of Burnaby to conduct improvements to Kensington Park Arena.

The local project is the first community initiative by Canucks Sports & Entertainment and RONA following the announcement of a three-year partnership last September.

“We welcome this opportunity to partner with the Canucks and RONA to enhance this important Burnaby facility,” says Mayor Derek Corrigan.

“Together, we will ensure that Kensington Park Arena continues to offer users – in particular minor hockey organizations – a great place to gather and play.”

The Kensington Park Arena project will create a more welcoming environment for the 110,000 users including 50 minor hockey teams who visit the arena annually.

With a focus on rejuvenating the arena foyer, the project includes replacing ceiling fixtures with tiles and lighting, painting walls, support posts and ceilings and fabricating a custom-built trophy display.

RONA has committed $70,000 worth of material as well the employees of CS&E and RONA will donate their time and support during a special volunteer day during the week of August 6th, with a ribbon-cutting event scheduled to celebrate improvements to the foyer in September.

“Our partnership with RONA provides the opportunity to engage our fans and support important local community resources like Kensington Park Arena,” said Victor de Bonis, Canucks Sports & Entertainment Chief Operating Officer and Alternate Governor, NHL. “

We share a commitment with RONA to deliver premium products and services.

Working together to give back to our community is one of the most important contributions we can make.

”“As a truly Canadian company, RONA is proud to contribute expertise, materials, its employees’ time and effort to improve the welfare of the communities we live in”, said Karim Salabi, Executive Vice President of Marketing at RONA.

Canucks Sports & Entertainment and Rona are committed to providing support and resources to initiatives that improve youth facilities in local communities.

The Kensington Park Arena project is made possible by construction products supplied from RONA with technical resources provided through the RONA Fab Shop by Tradeworks and labour by volunteers from Canucks Sports & Entertainment and RONA.
