Junior Draft Prior To Stealth Home Opener

The home team Delta Islanders were on the outside of this year’s 2016 Annual BC Junior A Lacrosse Draft held in the practice facility of the NLL Vancouver Stealth.

Growing any program takes hard work and this draft saw all 8 teams coming prepared to make a selection that would best fit their team and no one left disappointed.

The overall draft was chaired by newly elected President Karl Christiansen and consists of 6 rounds with eight players being selected in each round, for a total of 48 players

The first order of the meeting saw Karl impress the importance of the draft as well as laying out draft the rules to all clubs.

Prior to the draft there was the usual “chat” among team GM’s, but nothing materialized other than the general lacrosse talk.

The first round saw the Langley Thunder with three selections and with sights set on productivity they selected former Team BC player Connor Evers from Ridge Meadows.

Coquitlam selected second and took Nate Faccin (Ridge Meadows), Langley selected third and took Dylan McIntosh (Ridge Meadows) and forth was Port Coquitlam who selected Daytin Vidovich, also from Ridge Meadows.

The first round saw four of the top eight and five of the top 6 players from the Ridge Meadows Burrards where League President Ron Williams and his Executive must be ecstatic with the growth and development of today’s youth.

Islanders LogoOverall it would seem that Port Coquitlam could be the winner, if there is such a thing as they managed through trades managed to select 14 top players for their program.

From the outset it appears that all teams are looking at building from the bottom up and are strongly focused on the development of today’s youth to grow them into tomorrow’s stars.

Once the order of business was concluded, it was over to the LEC and catch the action of the Vancouver Stealth, who wanted to have an exceptional start to the 2016 NLL season.

Thanks to everyone from the BCJALL for the assistance given to us throughout the day and we wish them all the best for the upcoming season.
