Injuries are nothing new for sports athlete’s who play various sports and Langley’s Brett Lawrie is no different when he injured his hand in the 5th game against the Yankees.

Lawrie was hit by a pitch thrown by Chase Whitley in the fourth and managed to remain at third for one more frame before exiting the game.

He eventually left the dugout with Jay’s Head Trainer George Poulis not far behind him keeping a close eye on the star player.

Lawrie had an x-ray on his hand which came back negative and he’s listed as day-to-day.

In other Jay’s injury news, Blue Jays pitcher Brett Cecil is headed to the disabled list with a groin injury that happened in the game also against the Yankees.

Against the Yankees, Cecil made his first appearance since tweaking his groin against the Baltimore Orioles on Friday. He allowed a bases-clearing, three-run double to Brian McCann in the 8th inning of the game.

Cecil told the media after the game that “he felt tightness throughout his appearance.”

Not what the Jay’s need this time of the year!!
