The World Series finished and it’s time for the teams to focus on next season and possibly beyond.

The Parent team for the Vancouver Canadians who play out of Nat Bailey Stadium in Vancouver are hoping the Jay’s make noise in the off-season.

It’s reported that the Jays have signed 23 year-old free-agent infield prospect Lourdes Gurriel Jr.

Rumors run wild and indicate the Jay’s and Cuban player have  agreed to a seven-year deal worth $22-million.

He is the younger brother of Astros infielder Yulieski Gurriel and has a career .277 batting average over 1,098 career plate appearances in Cuba’s Serie Nacional.

He batted .344 with an on-base .407% in Cuba last season with a career-high 10 home runs and 53 RBIs in 59 games.

It’s also reported that Jays have signed designated hitter Kendrys Morales to a three-year, $33-million US deal, so apparently money isn’t an issue!

The signing could mean the finish with free-agent Edwin Encarnacion, whose apparently rejected the Jays’ contract offer.

Morales (33) is a veteran of 10-years in the MLB and played for the Los Angeles Angels, Seattle Mariners, Minnesota Twins and Kansas City Royals.

He batted .263, had 30 home runs and 93 RBI’s for KC in 2016.

Morales has a .275 career batting average with 132 home runs.

He has seen post-season play four times, which include three (straight years) with the Angels (2007-09) and a 2015 World Series Championship with the Royals.

It would seem that money isn’t an issue for the Jay’s and it’s hoping that we might see some up and coming talent at the “Nat” sooner than later.
