World Junior A Challenge

The Quarter finals of the 2011 World Junior A Hockey Challenge face-off at LEC which saw the US and Canada West record victories over their opponents moving them both forward to the semi-finals for Remembrance Day games.
The first game saw defending champs the US double up on team Russia by a tally of 6-3.
Team Canada West were 4-1 winners over the Czech Republic in the second game of the day and the US will take on Team Canada East in the early game on Friday afternoon game.
This will be followed by Team Canada West taking on undefeated Sweden in the late game both games at the LEC for some outstanding hockey with the best players in the world an outstanding value for the true hockey fan young and old on the International stage.
The Americans in the first opened the scoring at 12:24 on a goal by Alex Broadhurst to give them a 1-0 lead putting rubber past Russian goalkeeper Andrey Vasilevski. The US dominated the period out-shooting Russian’s by a 20-5 margin.
The Russians were patient and it paid off late in the period as they got the equalizer from Ilya Yamkin with 3:55 remaining set up by Avtomov and Barabonov as the teams went to the intermission dead locked in a 1-1 tie.
The Americans struck for three straight goals in the 2nd to take a 4-1 lead over Russia.
Mario Lucia made it a 2-1 lead at 8:42 after soon after this goal they struck again. Austyn Young made it 3-1 at 16:43 on the PP and Lucia got his second of the period with 1:40 remaining to build the lead to 4-1.
At the intermission the US out-shot Russians 18-14 holding an advantage of 36-19 as the entered the final period. Russia made it interesting in the final period scoring a pair cutting the lead to 4-3 as Bodgan Yakimov and Alexei Kudreman scored a couple of minutes apart.
The top ranked US squad seemed somewhat worried but that soon disappeared as Cameranesi and Kuraly put the finishing touches to the US victory making the final score 6-3.
Shots in the game were 55-29 for team US as they now face Canada East in the game one at 4:00pm on Remembrance Day.
Players of the game were Andrey Vasilevski for Russia and for the Americans Vince Hinostroza.

GAME 2

Canada west defeated the Czech Republic by a 4-1 score which moves them forward.
They opened the score on a goal by Curtis Loik late in the opening period on the PP.
The goal stood as they went to the intermission shots were 13-9 for Canada in the period.
The second saw Canada West extended the lead to 2-0 as Loik grabbed his second of the evening which saw Canada hold a 13-5 edge in shots over the Czech Rep.
Adding to the lead for Canada a turnover gave the Czech Rep their only goal of the period as Matus beat McGuire to make it a one goal game at the intermission.
Canada put the game away in the final period as Hadley extended the Canada West lead to 3-1 with 7:09 remaining and Travis St. Denis was awarded a penalty shot after being hauled down on a breakaway.
He made no mistake on the shot with 3:30 giving Canada West a 4-1 lead assuring them a spot in the semi-finals against Team Sweden on Friday night.
Shots in the game were 35-21 for Canada West over the Czech Republic and players of the game were:

Schedule for Friday 4:00pm Team Canada East vs. Team USA in the first semi-final and scheduled for the second semi-final is Canada West taking on Team Sweden at 7:30pm. The winners meeting for the gold medal on Sunday afternoon.
