Heat Finish With A Bang!!!

The Abbotsford Heat has numerous special events and honoured guests highlighting the final four home games of the regular season.

The next two weekends at the Abbotsford Entertainment & Sports Centre will showcase the Heat hosting Midwest Division-leading Grand Rapids Griffins and the North Division leading Toronto Marlies as well as some special visitors in attendance.

Friday April 5th against the Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings) will feature a special guest appearance from 18-year NHL veteran and hockey commentator Ray Ferraro and his wife Cammi Granato. Ray’s son Landon plays for the Griffins and currently sits third in team scoring with 38 points in 65 games.

Ray and decorated international women’s hockey star and Hockey Hall of Fame member, Cammi Granato, will be signing autographs at Section 113 of the concourse of the Abbotsford Entertainment & Sports Centre (AESC) during the first intermission.

Ardent sports card collectors might want to use this opportunity, and get their cards signed. But before that, they might want their cards graded by a sports card grading service like the ones offered by bgs group sub. Fans would be looking forward to the event in the hope that they don’t get disappointed.

On Saturday, April 6th will be a rematch with the Griffins and will feature a special guest appearance by Abbotsford pro golfer James Lepp, courtesy of Ledgeview Golf and Country Club.

Lepp was runner up on Golf Channel’s popular reality show ‘Big Break’, where he competed with 11 other golfers looking for a chance at making the PGA Tour. Ledgeview Golf and Country Club will also be conducting draws for numerous prizes as golf season ramps up in the Fraser Valley.

Friday April 12th is the third Legends of Hockey Night of the season, featuring an appearance by 16-year NHL veteran Darryl Sittler as the Heat face-off with the Toronto Marlies (AHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs). Sittler holds the record for the most points in a game in NHL history (10) and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1989.

The iconic NHL Alumnus will be signing autographs from 5:45 until 6:35 PM on the concourse at the AESC. The April 12th game is the final ‘Loonie, Toonie, Dog ‘N Brew’ night of the season, select Heat players will be signing autographs during the second intermission, and includes numerous prize giveaways as a part of Fan Appreciation Night.

The night will feature numerous prize giveaways, including gift cards for local Abbotsford merchants and one lucky fan will have a chance to win a new 2013 Honda Fit courtesy of The Honda Way Abbotsford. The Heat wives and girlfriends will also be holding a silent auction in support of the BC Cancer Foundation – Abbotsford Branch. Sunday April 14th is the 2012-13 regular season finale at the AESC and will be ‘Player Appreciation Night’, where the annual team award winners will be announced.

Prior to puck drop, Team MVP, Top Defenseman, Top Rookie, Fan Favorite, and Community Player of the Year award winners will be recognized.

The final home game of the regular season is also Sing for Spring night, featuring more than 400 elementary school students participating in the singing of the national anthem and performances during the intermissions. Puck drop is scheduled for 4:00 PM PDT.
