Giants Selected In 2012 Draft

The Vancouver Giants Hockey Club is very proud to announce that two members of the team have been selected in 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

Center Jordan Martinook was the first Giant selected, going in the 2nd Round, 58th overall to the Phoenix Coyotes.

Martinook had a break-through season for the Giants, scoring 40 goals and 24 assists in his second full season with the club.

The 19 year old native of Leduc, Alberta, joined the Giants as a list player prior to the 2010/11 season after not being selected by any WHL clubs in the Bantam Draft.

He now joins the likes of Cody Franson, Spencer Machacek and Milan Lucic, as Giant list players who went on to become NHL Draft Picks.

D-man Brett Kulak was the second and final Giant chosen, going in the 4th Round, 105th overall to the Calgary Flames.

Kulak played in all 72 regular season games for the Giants last year, registering 9 goals, 15 assists and a team-best +29 rating.

The 18 year old native of Stony Plain, Alberta, was originally a 9th round Bantam Draft Selection of the Giants in 2009.

He becomes the third Giant in team history selected by the Flames organization (J.D. Watt – 2005, Lance Bouma – 2008).

“We’re really proud to see both players chosen today”, says Giants Executive VP and GM Scott Bonner. “It’s a real testament to their character, and it’s proof that regardless of where or if you’re chosen in the Bantam Draft, you can still realize your dreams with hard work and a good support system around you.

It’s also a proud day for our scouting and player development staff, as we continue to build on our track record of making strong late-round Bantam Draft and list player decisions.

Congratulations to Jordan, Brett and their families.”
