Game One of the 2017 Northwest League Playoffs was not only delayed by a day due to poor air quality in Spokane, Washington, it was eventually moved.

While it was moved and played at the “Nat” and played in front of 6,320 supporters it was important for everyone to remember that the home team would actually be the visitors or Spokane giving them the game’s final at-bats.

This alone was scary and almost and could  have cost the Canadians who were headed into the bottom of the 9th with a 2-0 lead in a game that was played in 2 hours and 42 minutes.

Canadians closer RHP William Ouellette allowed a run putting two on-base before managing to get Spokane’s Matt Whatley to ground out, ending the game, giving the C’s the win!!

The Canadians started (RHP) Nate Pearson who controlled the first four-innings striking out 10 allowing only one hit, while walking four.

He (Pearson) escaped trouble in the bottom of the 4th that saw him walk the bases-loaded on twelve (12) pitches eventually seeing Miguel Aparicio ground out leaving all three Spokane players on-base.

The Canadians finished with 15 strikeouts that saw their consecutive scoreless innings streak end at 40 ⅔ that started in the 5th inning August 30th against Boise.

The Canadians are truly a “class act” as during the 7th inning they introduced the White Rock All-Stars to the fans paying tribute to the performance in Williamsport.

Game one see’s the Canadians moves within one game of the Northwest League Championship Series beginning September 9th through 13th which is subject to change without notice.

The Canadians move to 10-3 (.769) this season vs. Spokane and 6-1 (.857) out at historic Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium.
