The Canadians advanced to the first round of the playoffs with a date with Spokane in which the series took an interesting turn for the better, if you’re a Canadian’s fan.

Rich Miller

Game one was to be played in Spokane, but due to poor air quality the game was moved from Spokane to Vancouver, so the fans get to watch the entire possible three game series on home turf.

Game one saw the C’s pull out a 2-1 victory due to both strong pitching and defensive play from the outfield leaving the fans wanting more and that is just what they got sending Spokane waiting till next season for a title.

This was followed by a five game series against Eugene with the first two games played in Eugene that saw the teams split the pair and hit the road for a seven hour bus ride to the Nat.

The C’s continued to play impressive ball, but at times had the fans questioning a possible “if’ they could get another championship?

Not wanting to disappoint, probably the organization it was Brock Lundquist who hammered a solo home run while hitting .385 for the series.

Watching outfielder Brandon Polizzi make more than one remarkable catch in the outfield had everyone believing it was possible.

It wasn’t until the bottom of the 5th that saw Logan Warmoth hammer a two-run single that helped the C’s come from behind leaving Eugene wondering if they could win back to back games.

Eugene started strong loading the bases in the top of the 1st on a single followed by a pair of walks of C’s starter Justin Dillon.

He got out of the “jam” and went three scoreless innings before turning it over to Zach Logue, who gave up a HR over the right field fence putting the Emeralds on the board.

He found his rhythm and allowed three hits in his three innings pitched, leaving the finishing touches to his three RHP who came in as relievers.

The pride of White Rock Brayden Bouchey took over for a pair of innings, followed by Orlando Pascual and wrapping things up was William Ouellette that saw the C’s to strike out 16 for the victory.

The win sees the Vancouver Canadians grab their 4th Northwest League Championship in franchise history with the first dating back to 2011.

Under the guidance of GM Rich Miller and crew they finished the season with a record of 48-34 (.585) and a 5-1 (.833) stat in the NLW playoffs.

It’s been a season to remember on more than one front for the Sportswave crew and we wish to personally “thank” the office staff, Ross Baron and his ground crew not only for their hard work, but for also seeing Ross win the Sports Turf Manager of the Year for the Northwest League.

In addition to making mention of  the numerous volunteers who make everyone feel as tho they are part of the “Canadians Family.”

We want to personally send out “SPECIAL” thanks to Taylor, Jordy Cunningham and special shout out to Sharlene Canning who kept us on our toes game in and game out!!!

Last but not least is Vancouver Canadians play by play person Rob Fai who has a voice that welcomes everyone to the “booth” for the call of every game.

His excitement and love for Vancouver Canadians baseball goes beyond just the “call” as he hits a homerun with every time he takes to the mic.

Let’s see four championships in the past seven years, can they repeat is anyone’s guess!!!

Not sure how you make next season any better, but you know they’ll try!!!

From the SPORTSWAVE  crew – Laird Allan, Jorge Parra and myself thanks for making us feel as a huge part of the FAMILY!!!!

THIS IS WHAT IT’S ALL ABOUT!!!!!
