First Game – Y’All Porch
Canadians CF Earl Burl III went 2-for-4 with a highlight reel defensive play to boot while RF Sean Hurley hit the first-ever home run onto the Hey Y’All Porch as Vancouver opened up an eight-game home stand with a 5-3 victory over the Hillsboro Hops on Friday night.
All eyes were on Toronto Blue Jays 1st Round Draft Pick RHP Jon Harris who would go 2 2/3 innings of work in his professional debut allowing just one Hillsboro hit while striking out four.
RHP Jon Wandling would pick up the win after going 3 1/3 innings allowing one earned run on three hits to improve to 1-1.
Offensively the Canadians got contributions from CF Earl Burl III who went 2-for-4 with a double and a triple, scoring a pair of runs to help grab an early lead.
RF Sean Hurley provided the insurance needed in the bottom of the 8th inning when he slammed his 2nd home run of the season into the new “Hey Y’All! Porch to make it a 5-3 final.
With the win, Vancouver improves to 4-5 (.444) on the season, and move to within three games of North Division leading Everett who fell 11-10 at home to Boise on Friday night.
