Finally – 38 Year’s Later

After 38 years, the Seahawks did what many thought would never happen.

The league’s top offense takes on the leagues best defense in what many thought would be a “shoe-in” for Payton Manning and the Bronco’s.

To the surprise of many the youngsters from Seattle along with 24 year old Russell Wilson shocked the seasoned veteran QB from Denver.

The offensive line was stunned; the running and gun game was stopped cold and the receivers fought hard to get loose and make any type of play, even after any catch.

Seattle has ton’s of speed, plus the physicality of the Seattle defense dominated all Denver receivers at the line and made them pay the price any time they tried to go across the middle

This continued pressure forced Manning to throw in area’s that weren’t there, especially on his first interception thrown.

In addition he was hit as he threw on a subsequent pick six play that nailed his team’s fait heading into half time being down by a 22-0 deficit.

ManingPayton Manning played exceptional season, but it was like the first play in the game threw not only him off his game plan, but also the rest of the team. D in this case stood for Domination!!

The bad snap leading to two points for Seattle right off the start was a play in which some might say was caused by the “12th” man in the building.

Noise was a factor and for the first time in franchise history Seattle ends the season with a 16-3 record in which they took the Bronco fans out of the game early, never allowing them to get back in the game.

While players fight through injuries and play for short periods of time, we now know why Seattle signed Percy Harvin to a six-year deal worth $67 million.

It was his play that shut down the offense from Denver as he put the game away 12 seconds into the second half with an 87-yard kickoff return off a single bounce.

He also had 45 yards rushing on two sweeps in the first half and was the difference-maker everyone thought he could be all game.

Manning’s playoff record to 11-12 with more losses than wins in NFL championship games and no matter what he has five MVP awards plus stat’s in the record book that he will hold when it’s all over.

Looking ahead for him this five-time MVP will have another chance to change the outcome of this game next season.

Wilson is a young 25 year old from Cincinnati and grew up in Richmond Virginia, whose Father was a Lawyer and Mother was a Legal Nurse Consultant.

He has a younger Brother and also a younger Sister who are both very supportive for everything he does and as things go, his Father passed away in 2010 at the age of 55.

He was selected with the 12th pick in the third round (75th overall) in the 2012 NFL Draft. He was also drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 4th round (140th pick overall) in the 2010 MLB Draft

He played College Football for the University of Wisconsin in 2011 leading the single season FBS record for passing with a 191.8 then went on to lead the team to the Big Ten Title plus the 2012 Rose Bowl.

He signed a four-year deal worth $2.99 million on May 7th,2012 and was named the team’s starting QB in August of the same year.

Wilson also played ball for the Tri-City Dust Devils in the Class A Short Season in the Northwest League. He finished with a .230 batting average.bowl win 1

In 2011 he played 61 games with the Asheville Tourists, the Class A affiliate of the Rockies in the South Atlantic League South and had 3 home runs, 15 RBIs along with a .228 batting average.

In January 2012, he told the Rockies that he would be pursuing a career in the NFL and therefore would not report to spring training in 2012. A move he would never look back on.

While he was a major part of the win for Superbowl 48, it take a team and this time round Head Coach Pete Carrol was determined they would come home with the Lombardi Trophy.

Pete was named Head Coach January 11/10 and becomes only the eighth (8th) Head Coach in Seahawks history and has 18 years of NFL experience, plus 19 years of collegiate experience.

Taking the Lombardi Trophy back to Seattle is special for the entire Northwest.

Congratulations to the Seattle Seahawks on the win from everyone North of the 48th!!
