I have know him for several mostly from the officiating world (are you surprised) and the new position he was recently appointed to is well deserved.
Karl Christiansen is replacing or taking over for Ken Wood who tendered his resignation the end of the 2015 season, so the league was on the “hunt” for someone they knew and trusted to take on the role.
Karl will take on both the position of President and Commissioner of the BCJLL as well as continue in his role of league disciplinarian.
Bev Mosdell was appointed as the new Vice President of Administration and will be working with Christiansen in leading the league into 2016.
Christiansen had been the vice president of lacrosse operations for the past two seasons and overall dealt with the league discipline.
He (Karl) has been involved in lacrosse for 35 years; as a player, official, coach, and executive member.
He played at all levels of Senior lacrosse, certified as a Level 5 box lacrosse and Level 2 field lacrosse official thus knowing the game.
He has coached at numerous levels that included 7 years in the British Columbia Junior A Lacrosse League.
His (Karl Christiansen) first task will be in organizing the BC Junior A Lacrosse 2016 Draft which will be held on January 9, 2016.
“On behalf of the board of governors, I want to congratulate and welcome Karl to his new position of President of the BCJALL,’” said James Abbott, the newly appointed Chairman of the BCJALL Board of Governors. “Karl brings 36 years experience in lacrosse including 17 total with the BCJALL as a referee, coach and board member. Karl’s commitment, passion and integrity will keep our league moving in a positive direction.”
We look forward to seeing him once again this coming season in the Ladner Leisure Centre at a Delta Islanders game.
All the best!! See you at the draft!
