Delta Blue Jay Ramblings
The Delta Blue Jays continue to have prospects come from a team that has been front and center for ball in the lower mainland for years.
Under the leadership role of Bob Burkmar who has been with the squad since being an assistant coach in 1995, then taking on the added duty of GM in 2009 when Ari Melios and Mike Kelly stepped down to spend “home time” with the Families.
Bob has been with the organization dating back to 1983. He (Bob) served in various coaching and executive positions with the North Delta Baseball Association, BC Minor Baseball, the Baseball Coaches Association of BC and the Delta School District Baseball Academy at Sands Secondary School.
Bob’s accomplishments are huge and his service was finally recognized when he was inducted into the North Delta Baseball Association Hall of Fame in 2007 and into the Delta Sports Hall of Fame in 2008.
This year at the opening day for ND Baseball he was presented with a “giant framed” sweater for his wall. The crowd was thrilled at this presentation and Delta Mayor Lois Jackson was on hand to assist in the presentation.
Congratulations to Bob and his Family. This could not have happened to a greater guy.
