C’s Thump Spokane
Currently the C’s sport with a record of 19-14, while the Indians from Spokane sit 11-23 overall in this short Single A season.
Being down by a pair of runs on two separate occasions, the C’s managed to score five unanswered runs to stretch the lead giving them a 7-4 final win at Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium in front of 4,962 steadfast supporters.
The Indians took the early lead which saw the C’s fell behind early giving up a pair of runs in the top of the 1st off as the Indians managed a pair of runs off starter Ben White (RHP) who would commit a throwing error allowing Chris Garia to score, thereby giving Spokane the early lead.
The Canadians managed to narrow the lead to a 2-1 margin when Kellen Sweeney singled off of Indians starting pitcher Connor Sadzeck.
This allowed Matt Newman would drew a walk to lead off the inning. Down by a pair the C’s somehow managed to score the next five runs on the night and pull well away from Spokane.
Flores managed a double in the 6th inning and seeing an RBI triple (bottom of the 8th) allowing Vancouver walk away with the 7-4 triumph.
C’s starter Ben White (RHP) went 5 innings, distributing five hits in various areas of the field and stuck out four.
Of the four runs White allowed on the night, three were earned runs.
The combination of Zach Breault sporting a record of 2.0 IP, Jon Lucas 1.0 IP and Ian Kadish 1.0 IP managed to hold the Indians “at bay” going scoreless over the final four innings.
Flores and Baligod hit triples in the top of the 8th inning marking history in 2012 for the C’s having this the first time (this summer) that two C’s players have hit triples in the same inning of a NWL game.
The C’s hopes to continue the winning way’s and host a “Nooner” July 20.
