With the Vancouver Canadians knowing they have secured a playoff position in postseason play they continued their winning ways by a convincing 4-2 win over Salem-Keizer on an overcast cool Saturday evening.

Samad Taylor (2nd base) managed his 1st home run as a member of the Jays organization allowing Dalton Rodriguez (RHP) to nail down his 5th win.

According to the data on https://sportdataapi.com, Taylor was acquired from the Cleveland Indians in the trade for Joe Smith (RHP) managed to go 2-for-4 with his 1st home run in the Northwest League while Kacy Clemens went 3-for-4 managing a pair of RBI.

Dalton Rodriguez (5-4) went five innings giving up 5 hits, 1 earned runs and 3 strikeouts for the victory.

Chris Hall (RHP) pitched two innings while and William Ouellette also pitched two and managed to hold the Volcanoes off the win column allowing him to collect his eighth save of the season.

Saturday’s win see the Canadians improve their record to 9-8 on the season through 17 second half games.

Sunday’s Tilt  5-4

Sunday saw the C’s continue their winning ways and this time it was Canadians Owen Spiwak that got the ball rolling in the bottom of the 6th managing a four-run tilt that go them past a shocked Salem-Keizer squad by a narrow 5-4 margin.

His (Spiwak) two-run single scored Clemens and Adams giving the C’s a 3-1 lead and a short while later Salem-Keizer pitcher (Garrett Cave) allowed Taylor to score from third.  

Bryan Lizardo had an RBI single managing to score Spiwak completing the four-run romp, but the Volcanoes managed three in the top of the 7th.

C’s Orlando Pascual pitched one inning and shut-down the Volcanoes one run short that saw Pascual get his third save of the season.

Rodning got the victory improving his record to 4-1 on the season while Nate Pearson had his longest start of the season going three innings without allowing a hit – striking out six.

The win sees the Canadians improve to 10-8 (.556) through 18 second half games, and 31-25 (.554) overall on the season.
