Baseball America in conjunction with Minor League Baseball has named the Vancouver Canadians Baseball Club as a Bob Freitas Award winner given to the Organization of the Year (Class A).

The Canadians, led by Jake Kerr, Jeff Mooney and Andy Dunn will be in Dallas, Texas on December 4th, 2011 to receive this prestigious award that is a first for the Vancouver Canadians organization.

“The Vancouver Canadians have generated new excitement in their market by leveraging their affiliation with the Blue Jays, expanding their marketing efforts in Vancouver, and upgrading Scotiabank Field in Nat Bailey Stadium.

We are pleased to recognize Vancouver as the 2011 Bob Freitas Award winner for the Short-Season level classification in minor league baseball,” said Lee Folger, President/Publisher of Baseball America.

2011 saw the Canadians reach a multi-year Player Development Contract with the Toronto Blue Jays that helped Vancouver to its first Northwest League Championship.

As well, the unveiling of the Vancouver Canadians Baseball Foundation and a third consecutive attendance record helped Minor League Baseball shine light on the C’s efforts.

To be recognized by Minor League Baseball at such a level is something that we as an organization are very proud of,” states Principal Owner & Managing General Partner Jake Kerr.

Since 2007, the Canadians have welcomed more than half a million baseball fans through the gates of rejuvenated Scotiabank Field at

Nat Bailey Stadium and have won three consecutive Larry McPhail Awards (2009-11) for excellence within the Northwest League.
