C’s ADVANCE

It took all 76 games, but the Vancouver Canadians managed to punch their ticket to the 2011 Scotiabank Playoffs on Saturday night as Spokane topped Everett to eliminate the Aquasox from post-season contention with a 4-2 victory out at Avista Stadium.

Heading on the road to Boise was a guessing game for players and management, but the return home must have been long as they were were playing a waiting game

The Canadians will open the 2011 Scotiabank Playoffs on Monday, September 5th at 1:05pm against the Eugene Emeralds out at Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium.

The West Division Final is a best-of-three series with Game 1 set for Vancouver and Games 2 and possibly 3 down at PK Park in Eugene, Oregon. All that matters is that we are in.

Now it is a clean slate and we look forward to hosting the Eugene Emeralds on Monday afternoon back in Vancouver,” says Canadians hitting Coach Dave Pano.

Vancouver wrapped up the 2011 regular season on Saturday afternoon with an 8-2 loss in Boise.  The Canadians finished the regular season with a record of 39-37 (.513).

This marks the second straight season that the Vancouver Canadians have qualified for the post-season after losing both games to eventual Northwest League Champion Everett in 2010.

The team has played great ball in the last couple of home stands, so let’s see if they can keep it up.

Three-game ticket packages to the Playoffs remain on-sale by calling 604-872-5232.
