FINAL – Cowichan High School 15, Shawnigan Lake School 7
Cowichan went into the final as the top seed having posted a perfect 4-0 record in the round robin.
Cowichan came out firing, and led 15-0 at the break with Sophy Cutt running in a try and Christy Scholten crossing over twice.
Shawnigan controlled possession in the second half and when Lizzy Adams converted Terri Evanson’s try to narrow the gap to 15-7, it appeared as though the comeback was in full swing.
Cowichan’s defence buckled down, however, and repelled any further Shawnigan offensive efforts in the final minutes.
CONSOLATION – Merritt 34, Walnut Grove 0
Fresh off their recent rugby tour of Fiji, Merritt were too strong for Walnut Grove, blanking their mainland rivals by a score of 34-0 to win the consolation final.
Two speedsters recorded the bulk of Merritt’s points, as Brittany Brabant and Shayla George recorded two tries apiece.
