Twenty-five year old Sun Rivers Pro Brad Clapp fired an impressive round of 65 (-8) at this Friday’s Pin High Tour Championship at the Q Golf Club to manage his first win on the VGT.
Clapp made a total of 9 birdies, including 5 consecutive on 9 thru 14 to win by one shot over Can Tour veteran Matt Daniel.
The win gives him a $1,400 cheque which he knows his second place finish to Adam Hadwin at the Vancouver Open was no mistake!
Clapp has had a solid run which saw after 2nd place finish at the Van Open with Chilliwack Golf Club Pro Jared Rempel giving them the win of the PGA of BC Pro-Pro Championship at Nicklaus North.
He has made the trip from Kamloops four times this year alone and he alone has made some headway on the VGT, with one win, a 2nd and a 3rd place finish.
Clapp expressed his appreciation and thanked everyone at the awards presentation. “I’d like to thank Fraser and his team on the VGT for putting on such professionally run events.
It’s a great opportunity to play against such strong fields down in the Vancouver area on the VGT.
The Championship Amateur Division was one of Canada’s top young players, 17 year old Adam Svensson who blew the field away with a super score of 67 (-6), eight shots over his next competitor.
Svensson was teamed up with Ryan Williams which allowed him the opportunity to measure himself up against Ryan and all of the VGT Pros.
Svensson will finish off his last year at high school (this year) before heading to UNLV on a full golf scholarship – next fall!
The Tour Championship featured both an Individual Stroke play event for the Pros and Amateurs as well as a Pro-am Team event where the two best net scores out of the four golfers counted on each hole.
