Player’s and Coaches take several turns in there career and one such Canadian player born in Hamilton (in  1964) has taken his talents to coaching, in of all places – Switzerland.

He has been coaching the Swiss team since the 2007-08 season, where his club lost in the finals and during his tenure there, they have missed only once.

This year see’s him coaching his team in the Spengler Cup and Chris is the builder of Genève-Servette’s success.

in his early day’s he did play for  Hamilton A’s in 1982-83 then moved on to play for the Dundas Tigers the following season.

He has played in the IHL, ECHL and the AHL then turned to Coaching. He has won two (2) Championships as a Coach, both with the Toledo Storm in the ECHL in back to back season’s being 1992-93 and 1993-94.

Prior to that he coached in  England where he tired to get his Brother Marty to play for him, but it was blocked by the English Ice Hockey

The Canadian has been coaching the team since 2001, and, in the meantime, has advanced to head coach, general manager, and co-owner of the club.

He keeps pushing forward and refuses to rest on his laurels. “I am convinced that we will continue to develop favorably and grow”, said the coach with outstanding analytical capabilities. The assistant coach for last year’s Spengler Cup-winner Team Canada, he will be seeking success with Servette-Genève this year as well.

The fact that Servette is absolutely committed to the Spengler Cup was one of the pivotal points that lead to the second invitation after 2010. “Servette has always supported the Spengler Cup and will continue to do so”, said Head Coach McSorley.

The spectators can look forward to a team that plays a spectacular, offensive style of hockey. “We want to offer something to the spectators and make our contribution to the excellent atmosphere in Davos”, said the head coach.
