Changes Mean Loss
The Vancouver Giants again made changes, this time in the broadcast booth. Alex Grebenyuk was hired in the off-season and left the play by play position with Merrit in the BCHL to assume the new role with the Giants.
In conversation with Alex earlier in the season, he told me “he was under the impression he was doing all the play by play for all games, but this soon changed when he arrived on the scene.
The Giants made it official and released Alex of his position, a move which say’s the team is continuing to build a more professional club for years to come.
It was officially announced that Morley Scott who did the job in 09/10, will be doing some road games during the second half of the season.
Morley returned home or back to Edmonton where his Family still lives to take on the role of play by play for the Edmonton Eskimos in the CFL. He won’t be available until the Eskimos’ season is over, which we all know is immediately!
In addition Blake Price has been in the position since the start of the season for the majority of home broadcasts, will now be doing some road games as well. Jeff Paterson is also calling some home games.
Alex replaced Dan Elliott, who was released after two years. Scott had replaced Dave Sheldon, who lasted one year on the mike.
Dan is the media relations with UBC and Dave is working for NW radio.
Thanks to Alex for his help to date and we wish him all the best
