CBA Reached By MLS

Published on

Major League Soccer (MLS) and the Major League Soccer Players Union have reached an agreement (in principle) on the terms of a new collective bargaining agreement (CBA) for the league.

It is based on working for the next five seasons, commencing with the 2015 season and continuing through the 2019 season.

MLS Commissioner Don Garber “We are pleased to finalize the framework for a new Collective Bargaining Agreement with our players and we now enter our 20th season.”

Given the huge growth and success of the MLS and in the Vancouver area the success is only due to the community involvement of the Vancouver Whitecaps FC.

When you go to any Whitecaps FC Match you are entertained from the opening kick-off to the final  whistle and not only entertained, but you are part of the excitement.

From the Southsiders to the concessions it all about bringing big league soccer to the area and growing the sport for the youth of today.

The league has new television partnerships in place as well as the ability to attract star players from the US, Canada and Europe.

The league (MLS) has two “new” expansion teams in New York City and Orlando, where the Whitecaps play on the March 21st that will debut in front of (hopefully) over 60,000 fans in the Citrus Bowl.

The agreement that is in place will provide a platform for our Players, Ownership and Management to help build Major League Soccer (MLS) into one of the great soccer leagues in the world.

The concluding chapter of the negotiations was conducted under the auspices of Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service Deputy Director of Mediation Services and Field Operations Scot Beckenbaugh and Mediator Peter Donatello.

Bob Foose, Executive Director of the MLS Players Union stated to the media “We are pleased to announce that we have reached a new Collective Bargaining Agreement with the league.”

He continued “We are pleased to finally turn our fans attention back to our players and the competition on the field as we get started on the 2015 season.”
