CANUCKS SUPPORT FAN BEHAVIOUR

Published on

Canucks Sports & Entertainment and the Vancouver Canucks announced today initiatives planned for their 2011.12 season directed at supporting the City of Vancouver and the Province of British Columbia with regards to public viewing events of our games in the future.
We feel very fortunate to call this great city and province our home and to play in such a vibrant and diverse city with such passionate people.

As an organization, Canucks Sports & Entertainment is dedicated to building awareness for the importance of respecting your fellow fan and insisting others do the same to ensure responsible and passionate fan behavior.

We intend to provide that support by speaking to our fans directly through targeted messaging.

Canucks Sports & Entertainment will continue to encourage all of our fans to celebrate responsibly and to respect one another at all times.

Throughout the upcoming season, we are committed to strengthening that message and further raising the expectations that Canucks fans enjoy our games while conducting themselves in a respectful way.

We want to do what we can to support the City and Province so that if future public viewing events of our games are planned, they are done so without the recurrence of the incidents of June 15, 2011.

Our organization is working towards a number of initiatives for the upcoming season to assist in this manner including: on opening night (October 6th) at Rogers Arena, we will use our in-arena projectors and display scrims to show images of the cleanup and our civic pride to a nationally televised audience.

We will recognize the Canucks individual award winners and team successes last season by displaying each trophy on-ice, accompanied by a ‘local hero’; public service announcements will be shown in-arena, on Canucks.com and on network television with key messages about celebrating responsibly and respecting your fellow fan and community property; an external poster campaign will support these same key initiatives.

Our organization is extremely grateful to the law enforcement agencies, fire and rescue workers who displayed courage and expertise during such a difficult situation this past June.

We are also inspired by the spirit of so many who ensured the cleanup of our streets was swift and sent an even stronger message about the character of our citizens.

As a thank you, we will be hosting police officers, fire fighters, paramedics and fans (who initiated the cleanup on June 16th) at games throughout the pre-season.
