Canucks Sign Miller

Welcome to the next chapter of the goaltending saga in Vancouver and while many thought Eddie Lack would be the number one, the Canucks new GM thinks otherwise and makes changes to the roster.

They make changes only a short year after having two number one’s in the line-up and sign Ryan Miller to a three-year, $18 million deal.

miller timeMiller had a .918 save percentage last season for both Buffalo and St. Louis, but at the age of 33 was a disappointment to the Stanley Cup-hopeful contender Blues.

It is obvious that new GM Jim Benning felt it necessary to add a veteran netminder was a necessity and that Vancouver could not go into next season without having this.

Clearly the inexperienced duo combination of Eddie Lack and Jacob Markstrom (acquired from Florida in the Roberto Luongo move) and seldom dressed.

If the Canucks see Lack as Miller’s backup they (Canucks) may deal Markstrom during the summer instead of risking losing him to waivers upon being sent to the minor in the AHL.

Miller time? Welcome to Vancouver, where goalies from Dan Cloutier to Luongo to Cory Schneider have come and gone and for the most part have been the one that the blame rests on, it should be noted they all left without a Stanley Cup ring.

But Vancouver was also the site of the 2010 Olympics, where Miller shone in goal for Team USA.

What’s next for the Canucks – let’s wait and see?
