Canucks Host CFB Esquimalt

Entering the game see’s Vancouver with 58 points through 60 games, while the Senators have 64 points through 62 games.

The talk around the rink is not if the canucks will make the playoffs, but will they make any moves prior to the trade-deadline and if so – who?

Are they looking at a long run in the playoffs or just a re-tooling to finish out the season in order to please the paying public?

Whenever you attend a game you never know who you might meet or even see and for this game it was a tribute to the Canadian Armed Forces from Esquimalt, which is a suburb of Victoria.

Having a Father that served for Canada from 1957-58 in Cairo for the UN Piece Keeping, it’s such a professional touch by the Canucks organization.

Also attending the game were a Family from Alaska who travelled over 18 hours to catch the first ever (live) NHL game featuring two Canadian teams.

Earlier in the month Daniel collected his 30th assist of the season making it the 11th time of his 15 career he has recorded30 assists or more.

Adding to his impressive record Jacob Markstrom has a .910 SV% over his last five games posting a record of3-2-0.

Earlier in the week the Canucks hosted the annual “Dice for Ice” with Jake Virtanen being only one to entertain the fans between periods.

The overall event was well attended with the proceeds charitable event in support of the Canucks for Kids Fund.

This is the team’s main event where the attending have the chance to both mix and spend time with players, coaches and the senior management of the team.

The event also features silent and live auctions and a reception that features a comical money casino event.

The proceeds from Dice & Ice benefit both the Canucks Autism Network and Canuck Place Children’s Hospice.

While the Canucks are focused one player is Dan Hamhuis player along with others who brings individuals for the Canucks for Kids.

While the Canucks at times might be wondering what to do to bring fans back to the rink, Ottawa are averaging 17,862 fans through 31 home games.

They have attracted nine sell-outs this season and the rink known as the Canadian tire Centre has a capacity of18,694.

|Ottawa has an all-time record of 813-751-115-122 over a total of 1,801 games, which is better than some other NHL franchises.

Let’s not forget that some in the crowd are here to see Burnaby’s Kyle Turris who is in his 8th NHL season and who was drafted in 2007 as the first round (third overall) selection of Phoenix.

He was eventually traded to Ottawa December 17/11 for D. Rundblad and a second round pick.

The end result for this game saw the Canucks entertain the fans as well as those attending from the Canadian Armed Forces.

Enjoy the Canucks video on the event. Class group of guys and organization.
