In the second to last home game for the 2011 season the Vancouver Canadian’s welcome a new addition.
With the last home stand taking a new perspective for consecutive sell-out’s, they took the game to the World. Internet broadcasts are not new as Sportswave has been doing them for a while for various events through the lower mainland.
The broadcast depends on several factors and all are a work in progress for anyone getting involved in this new area of sports promotion.
The company is (so I am told) is based out of the lower mainland and has done basketball at the Richmond Oval, plus others. In conversation with Rob Fai he told me “it’s something that they are looking at for future broadcasts and it never hurts to try new things”.
The Canadians came out from the opening pitch and were “pumped” from the start, not to mention that Tri-City managed to make a few mistakes in the opening two (2) innings allowing the C’s to take a 2-0 lead.
The C’s continue to press as Burns hits a tripple to give them a 6-1 and this is only the start.
Those on hand are being entertained to not only great ball, but will be thrilled by tonight’s impressive fireworks display.
Steve McQuail hammers his 12th homer of the season giving them an 8-1 lead in the top of the 8th, with no end in sight.
Hernandez leads off the top of the inning with a swing missing the first pitch, but his bat slipped out of his hands hitting the back-stop.
Everyone got a good chuckle of it, including the players.
Newman hit a double to deep RF putting another runner across the plate taking a 9-1 lead. The Dust Devils have one last chance to get even, but it’s all but over.
The fireworks are next as baring a miracle, no one expects extra innings. Game over and the C’s win 9-4.
Playoff’s are around the corner, now let’s keep our fingers crossed.
