As the Major League Baseball World Series is set to hit a home run, locally the Single A Vancouver Canadians also hit a home run and are on the move, but not from Scotia Bank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium.

Each year they draw record crowds and given the fact they are the farm team for the Toronto Blue Jays we have the luxury to see up and coming future stars of tomorrow up close and personal.

Record crowds, simply put means “sell-outs” for the majority of games and if one can be critical, it’s the fact that there are a lack of seating, but maybe and I am hoping that maybe the City will allow expansion at the Nat in the outfield – but that’s on my wish list?

For the past years the games, home and away have been broadcast on TSN Radio with Rob Fai sitting behind the mic delivering pitch by pitch calls, which clearly have been moments for the listeners to remember.

Earlier as the season was winding down, Rob sent a note out indicating that he was taking some time away from the mic for personal reasons, which everyone respected and understands.

Now we are hearing that Rob will be behind the mic on Sportsnet 650 for the call of the games as he is set to enter his 13th season for the C’s and the many local fans.

Sportsnet 650 has exclusive radio rights with Scott Moore President, Sportsnet & NHL Properties mentioning “Canada’s love of baseball is a part of our national identity. From the first pitch in spring, to the final swing of the bat in the fall, Canadians are united through their shared passion of the game.”

Moore continued “At Sportsnet, we have the honour and privilege of being Canada’s home of baseball, delivering the excitement of summer to dedicated fans across the country. We look forward to bringing viewers more of the game they love through our partnership with the Vancouver Canadians.”

Andy Dunn, President, Vancouver Canadian Baseball Club mentioned “We are thrilled to partner with Sportsnet to bring Canadians Baseball to fans across the province of British Columbia and across Canada.”

He continued “This partnership will allow fans a unique opportunity to listen to and see the Toronto Blue Jays’ top prospects early in their career. We look forward to sharing the story of Canadians Baseball with everyone.”

Sportsnet will also televise six Vancouver Canadians games on Sportsnet Pacific throughout the 2019 season. A full radio & TV broadcast schedule will be announced at a later date.
