I am hearing that Haryana Neeraj (24) who is an India Open Women’s Champion in the 57kg division has been suspended pending subject to a further confirmation for testing positive for LGD-4033 (ligandrol) an Anabolic Agent.
With the push on for pre-Olympic testing, the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) collected a sample from her during an out-of-competition test September 24th at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Delhi.
The adverse analytical finding report was dated November 3rd and was received from the Anti-Doping Laboratory of Qatar.
She was notified by NADA regarding the violation of Anti-Doping (rules 2015) and suspended provisionally with effect from November 13th.
She attended the NADA office, November 27th and submitted a letter, wherein she accepted the ‘A’ sample result.
She also requested not to conduct her ‘B’ sample testing at the laboratory as requested and the case is referred to the Anti-Doping disciplinary panel for an expedited hearing.
Twenty-four-year-old Neeraj, who secured a bronze medal in the prestigious Strandja memorial event in Bulgaria in February and participated in the World championships in Ulan-Ude, Russia, in October, was among the core probables for the Tokyo Olympics.
“NADA intends to conduct pre-Olympic dope testing of all core probables so that only clean athletes are deputed for Olympic Games,” said the statement.
