Bestwick Returns To Nanaimo

Nanaimo Clippers add Bill Bestwick as Senior Advisor. Clippers President and Governor Ken Wagner announced today the introduction of former Clipper General Manager and Head Coach Bill Bestwick to the newly created position of Senior Advisor.

Following a lengthy career as the bench boss of the Nanaimo Clippers and a former player of the original team Bestwick is extremely familiar with the BCHL and the Clippers.

Team President Ken Wagner stated, “Bill has a strong history with the Clipper franchise and we are excited that Bill has agreed to join us and support our teams goals and objectives moving forward.”

Bestwick most recently was the General Manager and Head Coach of the Victoria Grizzlies and became available when he was terminated in mid December when the team majority was sold to a new ownership group.

Bestwick commented, “this is a great opportunity for me to work with the Clipper organization and bring my passion, enthusiasm and knowledge to the operations.  I will help in any capacity Management asks and I am excited to return to Nanaimo in this capacity.”

General Manager and Head Coach Mike Vandekamp expressed his approval of the inclusion of Bestwick as a Senior Advisor and looks forward to utilizing Bill as the team heads into the trade deadline and playoff drive.  “I have a lot of respect for Bill and look forward to working with him.”

The Clippers head out on a three game road trip to the Interior to start the stretch drive to the playoffs.  They will face the Merritt Centennials in their first home game of 2014, Friday January 10th
