The U-18 Provincial Football team will kick-off against Team Ontario West in the bronze medal game at the 2011 Football Canada Cup tournament in Lethbridge.
The game is on Friday, July 15th at 3 pm (PT) and will be played at the University of Lethbridge Community Sports Stadium.
Team BC will be looking to win a bronze medal for the second consecutive year at this tournament after earning bronze at the 2010 Football Canada Cup held in Nova Scotia.
Last year, Team BC defeated Team Nova Scotia in the bronze medal game by a score of 38-3.Team BC has compiled a record of one win and one loss through the first two games of this year’s tournament.
They opened the tournament with an 18-0 win over Team Manitoba on Saturday before falling 31-15 in their semi-final game against Team Quebec on Tuesday. “Obviously our goal was to beat Quebec and play in the gold medal game.
Given our performance and what we have, we’re just focusing on what’s in front of us and that’s Ontario West for a bronze medal,” said Team BC defensive coordinator Dino Geremia.
They opened the tournament with a 33-0 victory over Team Nova Scotia but fell 25-8 to the host Team Alberta in their semi-final contest.
The gold medal game of the 2011 Football Canada Cup will be contested between Team Quebec and Team Alberta. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 pm – BC time.
