BCHL/PJHL ACTION

The final weekend of the BC Junior Hockey League was completed for the 2012-13 season and the Surrey Eagles (Mainland Conference) finished #1 overall in the league standings.

That gives them home ice advantage throughout all post season action. Victoria won the other conference in the Island Division finishing second and the third team (overall) was the defending league and RBC Champions the Penticton Vees in the Interior Conference.

The final weekend of action saw Trail defeat Penticton 4-2 and West Kelowna pulled off a 3-2 win over Nanaimo.
The playoff format has the top four teams in each conference playing against each other in the opening round. For playoff dates and times for all league action visit www.bchl.bc.ca.

Earlier on the weekend Coquitlam was 3-2 winners in OT over Surrey. Chilliwack won 5-1 over Langley, West Kelowna 4-3 over Cowichan Valley also in OT, Salmon Arm over Prince George, Vernon 3-2 over Merritt in OT and Alberni Valley 6-2 over Victoria.Friday night saw Vernon narrowly defeat Penticton 3-2 and the high flying Surrey Eagles hammered Coquitlam 8-1.

Powell River defeated arch rival Cowichan 7-0 and Alberni Valley fell 4-0 to Nanaimo. Other action saw West Kelowna defeat Victoria 4-3 and Salmon Arm narrowly get by Merritt 5-4 in OT.

PJHL 

In the PJHL playoff action the Aldergrove Kodiaks are a win away from the division championship with a 4-3 O/T win over the Abbotsford Pilots. Stefan Gonzales scored the game winner of the second O/T giving his club a 3 games to1 lead in the Harold Britain Conference finals.
Also scoring for the Kodiaks were Kodi Schwartz, Ryan Zaidie, and Spencer McHaffie who’s goal sent the game to O/T with 3:56 left in regulation time.

Scoring for the Pilots were Michael Tebbutt, Ryan Parmar, and Michael Tebbutt (second of the night). Game five of the series goes on March 12th at MSA Arena.

The Pilots have their backs against the wall trailing the series 3 games to 1 as the Kodiaks can wrap up the series and head to the league championship game.

In the other series the Richmond Sockeyes got goals from Dean Atkinson and Jeremy Hamaguchi in a 2-0 win over Delta with Kootenay Alder getting the goose egg on the board allowing them to take a 2-1 series lead in the Tom Shaw Conference final series.
