BCHL Action
Four games on scheduled on Tuesday in the BCHL which saw entertaining hockey action supplied by all clubs.
The Grizzlies maintained their lead in the Island Division with a 7-4 win over the Powell River Kings which continues to see them climb in the standings.
Victoria got markers from Nicholishen (a pair), Coulter (a pair) and singles to Golka, Nicholishen, and Bruce. The Kings marksmen were Dupont, Richardson, Hiff, and Villeneuve.
Langley Rivermen hammered Coquitlam 7-1 getting goals from Jakob Reichert with a pair and singles to Butcher, Campbell, Sutcliffe. Azurdia, and Dombrovskiy the lone goal by the Express came off the stick of Adam Rossignol.
Shots were 47-41 in favour of Coquitlam as Rivermen “keeper” James Barr kicked out 46 shots for the victory.
Vernon and Merritt battled to a 2-2 (O/T) tie, which could have been there game, but the Centennials came up a “tad” shy.
Merritt got goals from Johnson and Fletcher while the Vipers responded on goals by Blacklock and Persley.
Goalkeepers Austin Smith of Vernon and Tyler Steel of the Centennials were solid between the pipes with the shots being 35-32 for the Vipers.
Trail were 5-3 winners over Salmon Arm which saw Baltus get his second of the game at 19:51 with the last one being an empty netter. Trail goal came off the sticks of Foyle, Poulson and Adduono.
For the Silverbacks goals were scored by Iacobellis, Hanna, and Sherbinin. Trail goalkeeper Adam Todd stopped 31 of 34 shots for the victory.
The league returns to action on Friday February 8th with 6 games slatted to take place.
