Reigning Premier League champions James Bay Athletic Association are currently on a three game winning streak having defeated Meraloma 27-25, UVic 45-38 and Castaway Wanderers 40-15.
Their offence ranks first with 129 points in just four games but their defence has struggled allowing a 7th-ranked 120 points against.
The last time these two sides met was back in early May when James Bay handed Capilano a 34-27 semi-final loss at MacDonald Park.
Capilano appear to be recovering from a slow start this season but are still in unfamiliar territory in seventh place and just a single win to their credit.
The perennial playoff contenders recorded a massive road victory on November 2nd, however, downing the previously undefeated BurnabyLake 9-3 at Burnaby Lake Sports Complex.
“The win gave us a reason to move forward in the right direction,” Capilano head coach Tom Larisch said after the crucial victory. “We really set a platform to turn the season around.”
Saturday’s clash will be a tough test for Capilano as they look to look to move out of the relegation zone heading into the winter break.
Around the Premier League
Top-ranked BurnabyLake (3-1) are on the road this week to Vancouver Rowing Club (3-1) at Brockton Oval.
The Rowers have been the surprise team of the season so far having been promoted from Tier Two this past spring.
Vancouver’s West Side will play host to a pair of match ups as no.3 UBCOB Ravens (3-1) play host to the UVic Vikes (2-2).
The students have not won since October 19th and recently lost to their university rivals UBC in their annual home-and-home Boot series on November 9th. No.8 Castaway Wanderers (1-3) and no.8 Meraloma (0-4) will do battle at ConnaughtPark.
The Lomas have just three points – all bonus points – so far this season but recently showed they are not be underestimated when they fell by just two to James Bay.
The Castaway Wanderers will also be without a number of their core players as national commitments have taken their toll on their roster rotation during the Fall season.
All Premier League games have been moved up to 2:30pm for the rest of 2013 due to Daylight Savings. Ceili’s Cup First Division matches will also kickoff 15 minutes earlier and are set for 12:45pm
