BC Lions/Save-On-Foods Announce Multi-Year Naming Rights Partnership

As the BC Lions get set to kick-off their home opener with an expected crowd of over 19,000 it’s nice to see the upper bowl of BC Place finally getting used which for many is such a welcome site.

Changes in the off-season have the Lions focused on putting a winning team on the turf but also a Championship team which can host the 2023 Grey Cup in front of their fans.

While many are focused on the game in addition to the pregame concert we should remember that earlier in the week Offensive Lineman Phil Norman was taken to the hospital after collapsing at practice.

Training staff for pro sports goes above and beyond and in this case they handled the situation in a professional manner and from what we understand he remains in the hospital for observation.

While this unfolded the Lions have to continue with daily business as any pro club or family would be required to do, which saw naming of the field which connects the BC Lions and Save-On-Foods.

The Lions announced a new multi-year naming rights partnership for the team’s home to now be rebranded as Save-On-Foods Field at BC Place.

Lions’ vice-president of business George Chayka mentioned “Save-On-Foods has been an outstanding partner of our club for more than two decades and we are thrilled for the opportunity to take this partnership to an even bigger level as a field naming rights Partner.”

“Save-On-Foods Field at BC Place represents a partnership with an iconic BC-based company whose focus aligns with the BC Lions pillar of helping to create better communities throughout British Columbia. We are proud to be furthering our partnership with Save-On-Foods and the Pattison Food Group.”

Darrell Jones, president of Save-On-Foods and the Pattison Food Group and the one we see in all the television commercials mentioned “We are thrilled to expand our longtime partnership with the BC Lions and lend our name to Save-On-Foods Field at BC Place.”

Jones adds: “As BC’s Most Loved Brand, this is a natural extension of our partnership with one of BCs most loved sports teams. At Save-On-Foods, we’re all about giving our customers extra, and with our name on the field at all BC Lions home games, we know Lions fans will bring extra pride, extra excitement and extra loud cheers to Save-On-Foods Field at BC Place!”

This partnership extends beyond traditional sponsorship elements which will see Save-On-Foods look to celebrate all the extras that BC Lions players, staff and fans bring to the stadium.

Since moving into BC Place in 1983, the BC Lions have given their outstanding fans some of the best sports memories in the history of this province, including Grey Cup victories in 1994 and 2011 in front of packed houses at BC Place.

The organization is excited and proud to continue providing fans of all ages with unforgettable experiences and the unique home-field advantage of Save-On-Foods Field at BC Place.

The Lions host the Edmonton Elks in our Concert Kickoff Saturday presented by BC Federation of Labour with the kickoff at Save-On-Foods Field at 4:00pm.

Make plans and cheer the BC Lions for an exceptional season of exciting CFL football!!!!
