BC Lions Making News

Prior to the first exhibition game for the BC Lions in a contest that they dominated the Edmonton Elk by a commanding 26-9 margin they announced that they locked-up American D-lineman Demetrius Taylor (6’1”, 295 lbs) to the camp roster who previously spent the majority of 2022 on the Detroit Lions’ practice roster. 

As an undrafted free agent but was waived in May 2023 but did manage to play in 65 games at Appalachian State (2017-21) recording 137 total tackles (67 solo, 70 assisted), 46 tackles for a loss, 26.5 sacks, 10 knockdowns, a pair of fumble recoveries. 

In addition he managed one interception as well as grabbing a first team All-Sun Belt honours in each of his final three seasons with the Mountaineers.

Prior to the first exhibition game the Lions announced they are bringing in Grammy And Emmy Award-Winning Artist Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson for their third Annual Concert Kickoff who is set to perform Saturday, June 15th when they host the Stampeders.

Lions’ owner Amar Doman mentioned “It’s an honour to give our great fans the opportunity to see a world class performer who resonates across multiple generations of music lovers. 

Concert Kickoff has become a great tradition in Vancouver and 50 Cent is our best one yet.”

Recognized as one of the most talented and prolific artists of his time, 50 Cent skyrocketed to stardom with his 2003 album ‘Get Rich Or Die Tryin.’ On the strength of popular singles ‘In Da Club’ and ‘Wangsta,’ the gritty debut album exceeded 9 million units sold and won the Juno Award for International Album of the Year.

A two-time winner of the Billboard Top Artist Award (2003, 2005), 50 Cent also took home the 2010 Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance along with Dr. Dre and Eminem.

50 Cent’s resume at sporting events is also vastly impressive as he helped headline an unforgettable halftime show at Super Bowl LVI in Los Angeles with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dog, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar, which awarded him an Emmy.

More recently, 50 Cent performed in Vancouver at a sold-out Rogers Arena last September as part of his Final Lap tour.
