BC Lions Dan McCullough 2 Retirement

Snaps are something that takes work, dedication and a desire to succeed.

The BC Lions are now looking at filling the position held by long snapper Dan McCullough who made his future known to the club.

Dan informed the club’s VP of football operations and GM Wally Buono, who stated “he was a dedicated player who made the club through hard work and determination and wish him all the best”.

He originally attended the Lions training camp as an undrafted free agent coming in from Bishops University.

He made the squad as the starting long snapper in 2008 and failed to miss a start in the next four seasons. He appeared in 72 games recording 26 special team tackles.

The club also announced that free agent long snapper and defensive lineman Sean Ortiz has signed with the Lions. He was with the Lions in 2010 and played in six games before being released.

He is from White Rock and was picked up by the Montreal Alouettes in July and played in two games before being released and eventually signed with Hamilton where he dressed for four more games last season.

In other club news Defensive back JR Ruffin was released and he did appear in three games last season and managed four defensive tackles.
