It’s not all that far off when Delta  TV sill be again broadcasting the Tour de Delta race taking place July 7th-9th in both North Delta and Ladner the following day.

As one would expect the event is jam packed with spectators lining up early to get a  good view of the action watching world class cyclists compete in the first of many for BC Superweek in the lower mainland.

Prior to this taking place and back in Milton Ontario Day 2 of the 2017 Canadian Track Championships p/b Lexus for Junior, Under-17 and Para cyclists, saw various titles awarded for both the Men and Women for a total of 14 national titles in four different events.

To the surprise of no one on Canada’s West Coast BC collected seven (7) titles and were followed by Ontario with five and in the Para competition, both Alberta and Quebec were the overall big winners crossing the finish line capturing titles.

Maggie Coles-Lyster (TaG Cycling) managed to capture all three of the Junior Women’s titles, winning the Sprint, the Elimination race and the overall Points Race.  

This see’s Coles-Lyster’s total to push up to five (5) Gold and one (1) Silver in the six Junior events contested to date.

Not to be outdone she is followed by fellow BC’s Riley Pickrell (Tripleshot Cycling) in the Under-17 Men, who managed to win two titles – which was the Points Race and Sprint race bringing his total to five (5) Gold.

BC continued to dominate and Sarah van Dam also from BC (Tripleshot Cycling) won two titles in the Points Race and the Elimination Race, in the Under-17 Women category allowing her to bring her total to four National titles.

Ontario’s Michael Foley (La Bicicletta Cycling) won two (2) Gold in the Junior Men’s category in the Points Race and Elimination Race, setting his total to three for the National Championships.  

Other results are as follows:

 

  • Je’land Sydney (Kallisto-FVC p/b Peloton Contracting) added the Junior Men’s Sprint title.
  • Madison Dempster (Midweek Cycling) took the Under-17 Women’s Sprint title – her second of the Championships.
  • Dylan Bibic (Midweek Cycling) won the Under-17 Men’s Elimination title.  Bibic, at only 13 years old, is one of the revelations of the Championships.

 

Alberta’s Para tandem team of Carla Shibley and Erin Rutlan won the women’s competition, while Quebec’s team of Mathieu Croteau Daigle and Benoit Lussier took the Men’s tandem title.

The Championships conclude on Sunday with national titles awarded in Team Pursuit, Team Sprint, Madison and Time Trials for Junior and Under-17 women and men, as well as Time Trials for the Para categories.
