As Wally Buono the BC Lions are set to host a CFL playoff game against the Bombers at BC Place in which they expect to fill the stadium, Montreal are in search of a new GM.

The Al’s returned to the CFL 21 short seasons ago they are in unfamiliar uncharted water in hopes of staying afloat and not getting caught in the current.

In news that comes as a surprise to many Club President Mark Weightman made if official announcing that Jim Popp will not be returning to the club.

Popp was the one who guided them to three Grey Cup championship’s, so making a move such as this is not the easiest of choices.

Popp came to the franchise with the former Baltimore stallions when it moved to Montreal in 1996, which was without the CFL for a decade.

While in Baltimore for two seasons he won the Grey Cup in 1995 before helping the Al’s reach the Grey Cup eight times from 2000 and 2010, while winning three in 2002, 2009 and 2010.

Weightman’s club missed the playoffs for the second year in a row told the media that he is unable to comment further as some of the candidates might still be working and unavailable to discuss it till season’s end.

Popp was removed as Head Coach in September only to be replaced by Jacques Chamdelaine, who made the choice to cut receivers Duron Carter and Kenny Stafford.

The Al’s went 4-2 under the new coach and it’s not yet decided if Chapdelaine or other coaching staff will return next season.

They might plan on having a discussion with former Edmonton Eskimos Coach and Montreal native Danny Mociocia who is currently running the program at the University of Montreal, but it’s a hush – hush movement at present.
