Adanac’s Praise Six Nations

Published on

The Coquitlam Adanacs fell short of capturing the Minto Cup following an outstanding season in BC Junior A Lacrosse that saw them captured their 6th straight league title.
Winning the Western Canadian Championship enabled them to punch  the their ticket in the National championship making their 7th trip to the Minto Cup only to fall to the Six Nation Arrows in 6 games after leading the series 2-0.
Overall the Adanacs finished second in the BC Junior regular season only to face the New Westminster Salmonbellies in the league final taking that series to seven games.
They lost only 3 games out of 21 regular season games played by the league with a record of 17-3-1 which saw them score 264 goals for and allowing just 148 against.
Unlike in past years the team would have gone automatically into the Minto Cup but the playoff format was somewhat different this year as first they had to take on the Alberta Champions (Calgary) in a best of five series.

The series went to four games which saw them win 3-1 giving them the right to face Six Nation Arrows which was the first time this happened in past seven years using this format.

The shocked Six Nations in the first two games by scores of 7-6 and 12-6, then both teams had a day away from the rink only to have the series resume on Tuesday.

They were unable to make the adjustments against Six Nations after they gained the momentum and played their game of running quick scoring and solid defense.

The Adanacs ran into a swift powerful team and the day off obviously helped the Arrows focus following a salmon feast with the Squamish First Nation Feast with their family.

Game three saw Coquitlam face a different Six Nations team that went on to win the next four games that started with a 19-5 pounding for game three and the next three saw them sweep the Adanacs with scores of 10-7, 12-7 and 14-8 to complete the comeback and give them the Championship.

Coquitlam praised their opponents from Ontario in what was a great championship match up against a two exceptional teams, that made for an exceptional series.
As they take the positives out of this series and build for next year they prepare in the off season to improve the club in the areas that have given this team the success in seven straight Minto Cup appearances.

Congrats to the Adanac’s for a well played series and an entertaining year of Junior A Lacrosse!!
