It’s a welcome addition when I receive articles from various persons who are eager to promote their sport with the most recent from Jami Savage who is the parent media rep for the Abbotsford 09A Outlaws.

We offer congratulations to the team on the win and wish them nothing but success as they move forward.

Enjoy the read:

After what spectators were saying was “The most intense game of softball they’ve ever seen” The Abbotsford 09A Outlaws shut out the Waterloo Ghosts Gold in a 1-0 game to win the U15 Girls Canadian Fast Pitch Championship Title.

After 7 innings of play the game was still tied, transitioning into international tie-breaker rules, where each team starts with a runner on second base. In a 0-0 game in the bottom of the 8th inning, the opposition loaded the bases with zero outs.

The Outlaws managed to escape with the game tied and force a ninth inning.

In the top of the 9th, the game’s only run scored as #9 Cassidy Kennedy stole third base and proceeded home after a throwing error.

The Waterloo Ghosts wouldn’t go down without a fight, loading the bases again. But a huge catch in right field by Delaney Danyluk sealed the third out for the inning and the National Championship title.

#9 Cassidy Kennedy broke into tears on the mound as catcher #10 Sienna Gascon ran into each other’s arms, glitter eye black running down their faces as they jumped into each other’s arms.

There wasn’t a dry eye in sight as the team celebrated their incredible accomplishment.

“This special group of athletes demonstrated their resilience throughout the entire tournament and represented their association with integrity and passion. We are grateful for the community around us for helping us accomplish this impressive feat.” Head Coach, Sebastain Wong.

“This National Championship team, the first in our association’s history to achieve this, has not only inspired an entire community of young athletes but also given us brand recognition.

Their impact on the community is profound, and we couldn’t be more proud and grateful for their achievement.”– Tom Eaton, AMFA President.

“On behalf of Abbotsford City Council and the City of Abbotsford, I want to congratulate the Abbotsford Outlaws 2009A team, coaches and parents for an incredible season and exciting win at Nationals,“ said Abbotsford Mayor Ross Siemens.

“Representing our community and taking home the National title is an incredible accomplishment, and a testament to their hard work, dedication and team spirit. I couldn’t be more proud.” Mayor Ross

“On behalf of Softball BC, congratulations to the players and coaches of the Abbotsford Outlaws 09, gold medal winners at the 2024 U15 Girl’s Canadian Softball Championships.
