Lions Signings

Word coming from the the BC Lions that they have signed American D-lineman DeWayne Hendrix to a two-year contract who was eligible for free agency following his release from Hamilton.

Hendrix (6’4, 275 lbs)- managed 17 tackles, 4 sacks and a forced fumble in his 16 games with the Ti-Cats in 2024. 

Following his first sack of the season, Hendrix earned the top defensive grade (87.8) in the week seven CFL Honour Roll powered by Pro Football Focus (PFF).

He played 38 regular season games with the Argonauts (2021-23)  and recorded 65 tackles, eight sacks, six pass knockdowns and one forced fumble. 

He earned a championship ring in 2022 recording a sack and forced fumble in the Argonauts’ victory over Winnipeg in the 109th Grey Cup.

He attended NFL training camps in Miami (2019), Pittsburgh (2020) with practice roster stints in Jacksonville and Chicago in between and also appeared in five games with his hometown St. Louis BattleHawks of the XFL to begin 2020.

Hendrix moved from Tennessee to the U of Pittsburgh (2015-18) and managed to record 50 total tackles (30 solo, 20 assisted), ten tackles for a loss, seven-and-a-half sacks, two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble in 25 games with the Panthers. 

He finished his college career with a forced fumble against Stanford in the Sun Bowl.

The Lions have also re-signed American D- back Jalon Edwards-Cooper for the 2025 season. Edwards-Cooper who was eligible for free agency on February 11.

Edwards-Cooper (5’11, 175 lbs)- returns for a fifth season with the Lions after re-joining the squad this past September racking up 12 defensive tackles in four regular season games and three tackles plus a pair of pass breakups in the Western Semi-Final at Saskatchewan.

He managed 36 D-tackles, one interception, one forced fumble, a pass breakup and a touchdown return off a blocked field goal before a shoulder injury ended his season after 14 games, moving on  to sign with Saskatchewan as a free agent and was released at the end of training camp.

He calls Spring, Texas home and  was originally signed with the Lions in 2021 and made the roster as one of the brightest newcomers on defence recording his first career interception in his first start in a week two victory at the Calgary Stampeders.

The Lions  also signed D-lineman Marcus Moore to an extension through 2026 who was eligible for free agency on February 11.

Moore (6’1, 280 lbs)- saw an increased role to begin 2024 with seven defensive tackles and a pair of sacks across 11 regular season games before an ankle injury ended his season on August 31.

The Pasadena, California native signed with the Lions prior to the 2023 with action in two regular season games in his rookie year recording an interception in his pro debut against the Blue Bombers. 

Moore also suited up in the Western Final at Winnipeg in November and recorded three defensive tackles.

He started his college career at home with UCLA from 2016-18 registering 23 total tackles and a sack in 17 games then transferred to Utah State from 2020-21. 

In addition to earning All-Mountain West honourable mention and Academic honours in 2020 he recorded 65 total tackles, 13 tackles for a loss and three sacks in 19 games with the Aggies.
