While everything was still on hold several of the pro teams were busy securing their on-air broadcast staff pending the return on their various sports around the globe.

Locally, we are hearing that the Fraser Valley Bandits have hired their broadcast talent from the booth as  well as the sideline of the court

I am pleased to pass on the following information from the team for those working the games and am pleased to announce that “good friend” Rob Fai will handle the play by play duties.

Rob and I go back several years and over the course of time I have found Rob to be knowledgeable, honest and a voice you can trust for honest and upright information.

I have had the luxury to work with various broadcasters and it’s sad to say that some are in the business to put themselves on a pedestal, thinking their chosen sport is all about them.

Never more could they be wrong and with the ever changing world of talent around, some of these might be replaced, which won’t be a loss to their sport.

The Bandits are one of seven teams in the 2021 Canadian Elite Basketball League all of whom provide a game for the family at affordable prices.

The broadcast team for the 2021 season honing his god given talent behind the mic is former Vancouver Canadians play by play person Rob Fai with all home games broadcast from the Abbotsford Centre.

His color person alongside will be Ransford Brempong and handling side-line interviews will be Shantelle Chand whose role began her broadcasting career as a traffic anchor on AM730.

Brempong represented Canada on the international stage as part of the senior men’s program for more than eight years, also playing pro in Germany, Holland and Canada.

He played college basketball at Western Carolina University and retired in 2019 after the Bandits inaugural season where he played nine games averaging 3.7 points and 4.9 rebounds per game in his final pro season.

Shantelle spent five years at AM730 and also covered the BC Lions, Vancouver Whitecaps and NCAA March Madness Tournament for 980 CKNW.

The Bandits open the season in Edmonton on June 24 and then host the Saskatchewan Rattlers for the club’s home opener on June 26.
