The annual Subway Bowl Football finals in all divisions once again are played at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver that will see High School champions crowned in all divisions.
The opening game of the day saw Ballenas Whalers play the Windsor Dukes in Double AA Varsity final that saw Windsor manage a 25-14 win grabbing the Varsity title as well as having two of the three players awards.
Top Lineman went to Windsor’s Hunter Brown, Top Back was Ayden Chambers (Ballenas) while game MVP went to Windsor’s Alek Giragosian.
The second game saw Mount Douglas Rams outscore Lord Tweedsmuir by 41-21 drubbing to capture the title while the Rams swept the players awards.
The Outstanding Lineman award went to Gjin Gashi, Outstanding Back was Hunter Swift while Militaddis Koulelis was named game MVP.
In a first for the BC Senior Secondary Association Football an All-Star game took place that saw players from across the province suit up for the game in which all players were selected by the Coaches.
The format used was an East vs West to show off their skills on both Offence and Defense as well as Special Teams that saw the East prevail with a 20-6 win.
The Senior AA Varsity saw the Langley Saints take on the defending Champions Vernon Panthers.
On their first possession the Panthers ran the ball in opening up an early 7-0 score, but the Saints rebounded tying the game on a 47 yard rush from Luke Rush with 1:27 remaining in the first quarter.
The second quarter saw Vernon manage a 63 yard pass and run with Caden Danbrook driving to Langley’s 5 yard line and complete the drive with a TD reception byTrent Carleton going up 13-7.
Langley managed an impressive drive to the 25 yard-line of the Panthers that saw by Ayden Holloway with the convert jumping ahead of the Panthers by 14-13. .
CK Smith got the go-ahead TD only to have the two point convert fail, but taking a 20-14 lead with under four minutes remaining in the second quarter.
Liam Reid’s short field goal extended their lead to 22-14 as the teams headed to the dressing rooms at the half.
The second half saw Langley drive into Vernon territory only to be stopped on a 4th and short gamble turning the ball over to the Panthers at the 30 yard-line late in the third.
Vernon’s Zack Smith was the game MVP, while Brady Szeman was Top Lineman and Caden Danbrook was named Top Back that saw Vernon sweep the awards and defended their Championship for the second consecutive year..
