Simon Fraser University forwards Jono Ceci and Nick Sandor have finished first and second respectively in 2013/14 BCIHL points race.
The Clan finished the season second place in league standings with an overall record of 19-3-0-2.
Sandor, in his second year with SFU, finished the year with 46 points (18 goals and 28 assists) in 24 games, good for second in league scoring.
The BCHL grad had a productive junior career with the Alberni Valley Bulldogs and Trail Smoke Eaters before committing to the NCAA’s Division 1 American International College.
After two seasons in the NCAA, Sandor transferred to SFU to play in the BCIHL and study Business Administration.
With only 4 penalty minutes this season, Sandor had the lowest PIMs of all top 20 scorers.
Ceci, also a Business major, finished first in league scoring with 47 points (16 goals and 31 assists) in 24 games, matching his 2011/12 campaign and putting him within 3 points of all-time SFU scoring leader Paul Moscone (Economics, ’11).
Ceci now has 125 points in three BCIHL seasons, and is poised to pass Moscone during his senior year. Moscone had 128 points in four seasons in the BCIHL, spanning from 2007/08 to 2010/11.
Putting up points is nothing new to Ceci, who was well over a point-per-game player at the Junior A level in Saskatchewan, as well as a standout in the PIJHL ranks with Burnaby’s Grandview Steelers, notching 72 points in 46 games.
With a strong season next year, Ceci may also be poised to challenge for the all-time BCIHL scoring crown held by the UFV Cascade’s Robert Vos, who finished his University career in 2010/11 with 157 points.
