Ex-Giant Moved

The Saskatoon Blades and GM Lorne Molleken announced the acquisition of forward’s Connor Sanvido, Wyatt Sloboshan, a 2nd round pick (2014) and a conditional 3rd round draft pick (2015) from the Swift Current Broncos.

In exchange, the Blades have dealt 1993-born forward Nathan Burns and a 7th round draft pick (2014) to Swift Current.

Sanvido is a 1993-born right winger form Maple Ridge, BC.

The 5’10, 175 pound forward is currently on pace for a career-year in 2013-14, having registered 12 goals, 26 points and 21 PIMs to go along with a +13 rating in 40 games.

Sanvido is also a former member of the Seattle Thunderbirds, having been selected by them 14th overall in the 2008 WHL Bantam Draft.

Sloboshan is a 1997-born forward from Vanscoy, Saskatchewan.  The 5’10, 164 pound forward has spent his season playing Midget-AAA with the Okanagan Hockey Academy Prep.

In 30 games, he’s put up 19 goals and 54 points to go along with 20 PIMs.

Sloboshan is currently away at the 2014 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, where he’s a member of Team West alongside Blades forward Cameron Hebig.  Sloboshan was a 3rd round pick, 54th overall, by the Broncos in the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft.

“This trade continues our direction as we move forward with a rebuild,” said Blades general manager Lorne Molleken.  “Acquiring the draft picks, a young prospect and an overage leader like Sanvido is huge for us.  Connor is a player who’s had a great season in Swift Current.  He’s an offensive player that we know will come in and provide great leadership and guidance to our young club.”

“In the case of Nathan Burns, he’s been tremendous for us,” added Molleken.  “We acquired him for our Memorial Cup run last season and he’s been everything we needed him to be and more.  He’s a great player and leader, a determined young man.  We want to wish him all the best.”
