Lions Lock-Up Chapdelaine

Champion B.C. Lions made it official. The long wait is finally over for offensive coordinator Jacques Chapdelaine.

Working to lock-up a solid staff for the coming seasons is something that the club wants to do – sooner rather than later.

Chapdelaine will return in 2012 despite some reports that there were reports he (Chapdelaine) had been offered the head coach’s job at Bishop’s University in the US.

New head coach Mike Benevides stated “Jacques was a significant part of our success last season and I am very pleased that he will remain with us in 2012”. He continued

“He is our league’s most experienced offensive coordinator and having him lead the offence provides us with both continuity and stability heading into this season.”

Chapdelaine enters his ninth (9th) season with the Lions after joining the club in 03 as the receivers coach. In 05, he was promoted to offensive coordinator which helped land in a Grey Cup in 06.

Following a “stop-over” with the Edmonton Eskimos in 07, he rejoined the Lions in 08 as receivers coach. He eventually became the offensive coordinator again in 2010.

Last season, B.C. quarterback Travis Lulay was named the CFL’s outstanding player prior to ending the season with the Grey Cup MVP title.
