Canadians Take Game 1

No different than NASA launching into orbit, the Canadians blasted off with an impressive win in game one of the West Division Final in front of 4,698 fans at Scotiabank Field.

The Canadians started Roberto Osuna (RHP) who should be nick-named “Pepper” pitched three flawless innings striking out six and allowing no runs retired to the dugout to a ovation from those on hand.

From the 4th on the C’s pitching was superb and allowed the “Sox” to one hit taking full command of the game.

The C’s sent Jon Lucas (RHP) (2.1IP), Colton Turner (LHP) (2.1IP), Wil Browning (RHP) (0.1IP) and Arik Sikula (RHP) (1.0IP) to close out game over Everett.

The “Sox” send Dylan Unsworth (RHP) who posts a stat of 7-2/3.90 to the mound and he was exceptional and displayed why he got the call as the game starter.

He calls Durban South Africa home and went an impressive went six scoreless innings.

Thus limiting the C’s to a mere four hits while striking out eight in the process.

Everett reliever Dominic Leone gave up a double to Jorge Flores, which was followed when Marcus Littlewood let a pitch get away from him allowing Flores to take third.

Many in the stands thought this was a wild pitch, but it was scored as a pass ball.

With two out C’s 3B Kellen Sweeney faced two outs hammered a single to RF scoring the games only run, giving the C’s the Victory. The game took 2 hours and 25 minutes and allows the C’s to take a 1-0 lead in the West Division Final.

Game 2 and Game 3 are both set for Everett’s Memorial Stadium on Tuesday and Wednesday (September 4th and 5th respectively).  Both games in Everett Washington are scheduled for 7:05pm.

The Canadians record now improves to 5-8 (.385) against Everett this summer and 1-2 (.333) in the post-season. This dates back to 2000 when the C’s joined the NWL

Vancouver’s all-time record in the post-season dating back to 2000 is now 7-10 (.412) with one NWL Championship.

This game was far but boring and everyone on hand was entertained from the opening pitch to the final out.
