The Canadian Paralympic Committee made it official and finally announced the Athletes, Coaches and Staff for Team Canada at the Sochi 2014 Paralympic Winter Games.

Canada will bring a total of 54 athletes to compete in all sports contested at the Sochi Paralympics: sledge hockey, wheelchair curling, para-alpine skiing, para-snowboard, para-Nordic skiing and biathlon.

This total includes five guides for athletes with a visual impairment in para-Nordic and para-alpine skiing.

The Sochi 2014 Canadian Paralympic Team is led by Chef de Mission Ozzie Sawicki of Cochrane, Alta.

“It is fantastic to head to Sochi as the Chef de Mission of one of the strongest Canadian Paralympic Teams at any Paralympic Games in our winter history,” said Sawicki. “After spending much of the lead up to the Games meeting with the sports in their training and competition settings, I know that our entire Canadian contingent is ready to take on the challenge to once again place in the top three nations in the gold medal count, as we did in Vancouver at our home Games in 2010.”

Many have asked whether the Paralympic Games will be broadcast on television. The answer is a resounding yes!
